The Azaleas are a caravan trek through the Ténéré region of the Sahara desert, where camel trains have transported salt and gold for thousands of years. Along the way stood a single acacia tree, the only living thing in the ocean of sand. It was the most isolated tree in the world, 150 km from any other. this loneliest tree in the world was one of the few landmarks along the Azaleas, a sacred testament to the resilience of life that guided caravans for centuries. Despite being the only obstacle for miles, the 1973 a truck driver who fell asleep behind the wheel crashed and killed him forever.
